The ornate white guitar featured in the Disney movie, “Coco,” made the humble town of Paracho, Mexico, famous overnight. But among guitarists and serious collectors, Paracho was well-known long before that, as the home of some of the world’s most accomplished luthiers.
Step inside the family-owned workshop of master guitar maker Guillermo Rubio, and watch him build a guitar by hand in our short video, below.

In the early 1950s, my uncle brought a guitar home from Paracho, made by Ramone Zalapa at Fabrica de Guitarras. I might have it or perhaps a cousin does. A very good sonding and paying guitar.
